Periodontal Scaling
Periodontal Scaling is necessary for those who have periodontal disease and the periodontal pockets are deep. Periodontal pockets are the area between the tooth and the gums. The pocket collects bacteria and therefore causes periodontal disease. Periodontal scaling is necessary to be able to clean down deep under the gum tissue to remove the bacteria. This procedure is done in 2-4 appointments and it is required for the patient to be numb. A 6 week evaluation appointment of the gums is required to see if there is improvement in the patient's oral health.

Space Maintainer
A space maintainer is used to keep teeth from drifting together. Whether a tooth is extracted or a tooth has not erupted yet, a space maintainer is necessary for the permanent tooth to grow in its proper place. An impression is taken and a lab custom makes the appliance. The appliance can be cemented in or it can be removable. The appliance is worn until the permanent tooth has erupted.

Crowns
A crown may be needed to restore a tooth back to its normal shape and strength. A crown can make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance. It covers a tooth when there is no structure left due to an old large restoration, tooth decay or if the tooth has had a root canal. A crown can also be used to cover an implant tooth. The procedure usually takes 2 appointments, but now can also be done in 1 visit. Crowns can be porcelain or gold depending on your needs and smile. The crown is made by a lab for a custom fit and then permanently bonded or cemented to your tooth.
