Root Canal Treatment
Your teeth are meant to last a lifetime. Even if a tooth becomes injured, infected or in some cases dies, it can be fixed by doing root canal treatment. If the nerve is exposed or injured it causes discomfort. Through an x-ray evaluation the doctor may determine if you need a root canal treatment. The tooth is then cleaned out with "files" and new state of the art equipment assists the doctor in completing the procedure. The canals are then filled with artificial material to restore the roots. A rubber dam may be placed to better assist the doctor. A crown is necessary after the procedure is completed because the tooth becomes brittle. There is no nerve left to give blood supply any more. Contrary to what people might think, a root canal can be a comfortable, pleasant exerpience.

Extraction
Your teeth may be diseased beyond repair and may need to be extracted. Or you may need an extraction due to crowding. You may have wisdom teeth that need to come out. Simple extractions are done under local anesthetic. After the procedure, care instructions are given to you so you know what to expect within the next 24 hours.
